FRANCE : THE ATTACKS OF 13 NOVEMBER 2015

On the evening of 13 November 2015, 130 people were killed in Paris and its northern suburb of Saint-Denis in attacks claimed by the so-called Islamic State. The terrorists shot people at the Stade de France and at café and restaurant terraces and took hostages at the concert venue, Le Bataclan.The French government declared a state of emergency.

FRANCE: ATTACKS IN JANUARY 2015

In January 2015, France was hit by a series of attacks, on the magazine Charlie hebdo, the police and a kosher supermarket, claiming 17 victims. Three terrorists were killed. The "Je suis Charlie" campaign brought four million French people into the streets to pay a tribute to the victims and freedom of expression.

TIMOR LESTE

In 1991, journalist Max Stahl's images of the Santa Cruz massacre attracted the attention of the international community to East Timor's struggle for independence. In 2003, he founded CAMSTL, which preserved a collection of archives from film shoots in Timor Leste featuring the key moments in the country's history.
