Follow the adventurers and embark on the Paris - Dakar!
Amaury Sport and Ina have partnered to offer professionals a vast array of images from the legendary Paris-Dakar race.
This race, the longest and one of the most challenging rally-raid events, was founded by Thierry Sabine in 1978. French television has successfully relayed this extraordinary adventure. TV channels have mobilized production efforts, providing dedicated shows with the necessary technical means to follow the race. To uncover these fabulous images, you will need to explore cult shows ranging from a few minutes to over 1 hour and 30 minutes, such as Le journal du Dakar, La piste du Dakar, Les aventuriers du Dakar, Aventure Dakar, Cap Dakar, and not forgetting the reports from JT and the magazines Bivouac, Tout le Sport, and Stade 2.
Motorcycles, cars, and trucks traverse breathtaking landscapes; rocky terrains, majestic sand deserts, clouds of dust, African villages… But it also involves obstacles and difficulties to overcome, breakdowns, disappointments, and unfortunately, sometimes fatal accidents.
Cyril Neveu, Stéphane Peterhansel, Ari Vatanen, Cyril Despres… but also Johnny Halliday, Michel Sardou, Mark Thatcher, Claude Brasseur, Jacky Ickx… all left their mark on the Paris-Dakar competition, not forgetting the tragic helicopter accident in 1986 that claimed the lives of 5 people, including Thierry Sabine and Daniel Balavoine.
For security reasons, the event was canceled in 2008. It resumed from 2009 to 2019 in South America. Over the years, the routes have varied, changing the names, so don’t be mistaken because the Paris-Dakar is also Paris-Alger-Dakar, Arras-Madrid-Dakar, and Le Dakar.
This collection, which gathers more than 5,000 documents, will soon be enriched with more than 260 additional clean images.
Are you ready to face the relentless challenges of the desert?
