To mark the 160th anniversary of the BHV MARAIS, the iconic Paris department store on the Rue de Rivoli is holding a retrospective exhibition: "1856-2016: From the Grand Bazar de l’Hôtel de Ville to the BHV MARAIS".
F rom 30 June to 1st October 2016, in the “Observatoire" on the fifth floor of the BHV MARAIS department store, the free exhibition is open to everyone, and offers visitors a fun-filled interactive journey. Previously unreleased documentary footage, art works and exhibits all bear witness to the rich past of the BHV MARAIS. The exhibition has been designed in partnership with the Institut national de la propriété industrielle and the Institut national de l’audiovisuel.
The footage features tests on a Link Trainer flight simulator, Joséphine Baker signing her book in the midst of her fans, and Marcel Duchamp, inventor of the "ready made" concept. In fact it was in the BHV hardware department that Duchamp bought the first of his celebrated bottle dryers.
